Saskia has recently worked with clients including the UK government and INTERPOL to develop governance and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) mechanisms for overseas counter terrorism (CT) work; advised on best-in-class methodologies for security, intelligence and defence reform in Somalia, Iraq and the Western Balkans; led the design of a multi-region, multi-million £ programme to counter organised crime; and incubated neuroscience-informed approaches to counter violent extremist (VE) ideology. Saskia has led multiple strategic reviews for the UK, Danish governments and others in East Africa, Southeast Asia, the Western Balkans and the Middle East on interventions to counter terrorism, violent extremism, organised crime and trafficking. Previously Saskia directed a range of innovative CVE/CT interventions, including a flagship programme in Tunisia which embedded cutting-edge models for engaging with ‘at risk’ individuals.
As the United Nations’ youngest appointee, she performed Chief of Staff functions for two Directors of multi-million-dollar operations with 20,000 employees. She led a Guinness World Record-breaking behavioural change programme in Gaza and became the lead UN negotiator with the Israeli military during the 2009 war. She subsequently delivered service improvements in Lebanon for 150,000+ refugees. Post MBA, Saskia worked with natural resource companies to address political, security and community risks in e.g Mauritania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. She began her career in Kosovo, running a country-wide reintegration programme for minorities.
Saskia has a BSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from IMD.
